Purchase--- On November 13th, 2008 Stephen Valiquette, goaltender for the New York Rangers, visited the Manhattanville College campus to present an inspirational and motivational speech that focused on the importance of having a positive attitude - one filled with heart and desire - on and off the ice. Passionate and perseverant, Stephen reflected on his life experiences to explore the themes of goal setting, teamwork and leadership.

The presentation was followed by a Q & A with the audience, and an autographing and fundraising session. All funds raised will go to The Travis Roy Foundation that helps spinal cord injury survivors. Since the event was co-sponsored by Manhattanville Student Government Association (SGA) and the Manhattanville My Soldier pen pal program the Travis Roy foundation has agreed to earmark the proceeds to benefit a United States war veteran with a spinal cord injury.
