Position: Administrative Assistant: Grad Admissions
Department: Graduate Admissions School of Education
Status: Full-Time Position

Immediate Supervisor: Director of Graduate Admissions School of Education

The major function of this position is the implementation of all aspects of the admissions process for all prospective graduate students.  This includes:

  • Greeting and welcoming prospective students.
  • Maintaining a comprehensive inquiry and application database in Goldmine which includes inputting data at various times from inquiry to application to acceptance stages of admissions, also inputting marketing data at the acceptance stage.
  • Setting up and tracking admissions files including flagging incomplete files and soliciting prospective students by phone or email.
  • Circulating files to the admissions committee and fielding all questions re the files.
  • Liaison with Graduate Advising office.
  • Execution of all admissions letters and handling all telephone inquiries re admissions status.
  • Answer phones and distribute mail and faxes. Return phone call inquiries.
  • Coordinate packet distribution and other marketing materials.
  • Monitor schedules and recruitment/events calendars.
  • Following up provisional acceptances to determine status.
  • Supervision of graduate assistant’s work on data entry and miscellaneous projects

Required:

  • Proficiency with Word and some knowledge of Access and other database programs helpful.
  • Superior interpersonal and clerical skills.
  • Experience in working on a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Willingness to work with flexible scheduling.

Position: Cheerleading Coach
Department: Dean of Students
Status: Part-time Position

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Choreograph and teach cheer routines to the cheerleading squad
  • Set and conduct practice times
  • Supervise and direct the cheerleading squad during events including but not limited to games, fundraisers, and campus activities
  • Enforce the rules of the squad, including those regarding tardiness, missed practices and/or games, and unsportsmanlike behavior
  • Coordinate team conditioning through Athletic department
  • Follow through protocol for injured athletes
  • Hold tryouts or conduct auditions to select new members of the cheerleading squad
  • Coordinate the team attending cheerleading camp each summer/ winter session

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Promote a spirit of cooperation and friendship between the cheerleaders and the dance team, as well as other groups on campus
  • Encourage community service
  • Incorporate team-building activities for the squad

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • AACCA (American Association Cheerleading Coaches and Administrator) National Safety Certification mandatory
  • USA Gymnastics Safety Certification preferred
  • 2-4 years Cheerleading Coach experience
  • Excellent leadership, communication, managerial, and planning skills

Position: Major Gifts Officer
Department: Institutional Advancement

Reporting to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, the Major Gifts Officer will work individually and as part of the development  team to meet annual fundraising goals and to build and maintain effective relationships with donors, prospects and volunteers. He/she will form and drive major gift strategies for an evolving pool of major gift prospects, and be primarily responsible for and securing major gifts in support of the mission and goals of Manhattanville College.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of 150 Major Gift prospects.
  • Identify, evaluate, cultivate and solicit donors capable of making gifts of $25,000 and above to support the College’s Annual Fund.
  • Initiate opportunities for faculty, administrators, and deans to interact with major gift prospects and interpret fundraising priorities to college constituencies.
  • Draft compelling proposals for annual and endowment support
  • Ensure timely and appropriate acknowledgement and stewardship of major gifts

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Four to six years of proven fund-raising experience
  • Basic knowledge of tax laws, financial planning and planned giving strategies
  • Excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of major gift fund-raising techniques, including moves management, cultivation and stewardship techniques and database/record keeping practices
  • Ability to work with a team and travel as necessary

Preferred

  • Master’s degree
  • Higher education fundraising experience

Position:  Director of Continuing Education, Summer Session, and Special Programs

The Director of Continuing Education, Summer Session, and Special Programs reports directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.  The Director will significantly expand these program offerings to degree-seeking students and non-matriculated part-time and adult students of all ages in undergraduate credit courses and non-credit courses and workshops.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Planning and directing all aspects of the programs
  • Overseeing on and off-campus programs, activities, faculty affairs and academic support services
  • Developing and implementing strategies to attract and retain students and faculty
  • Ensuring that the curriculum remains current and in compliance with accreditation standards
  • Making recommendations to the Provost to improve the programs

Required:

  • Graduate degree – an earned doctorate is preferred, but a Master’s degree with strong experience will be seriously considered

Course Description:

MSIM 5003 Global Financial Markets and Risks
Provides an understanding of contemporary international financial markets, including the international monetary system and balance of payments issues, and the role of the European Union. Emphasizes the rules and policies of foreign exchange markets, international credit markets, and currency and tax issues. Considers the role of financial management in maintaining global competitiveness as well as the problems of short and long-term asset and liability management. Analyzes the risks involved in international business, including foreign exchange and inflation. Provides tools for evaluating and selecting foreign projects and for analyzing political risks.

MSIM 5031 Entrepreneurship: Entering Markets
Examines the characteristics of the successful entrepreneur and the resources and planning required to operate a successful entrepreneurial business, including franchising. Explores how entrepreneurship plays out in the international arena with emphasis on the risks involved. Also explores cost benefits, decision tree models, ethics and dealing with bribery and corruption, and the need for clarity in goal setting strategies with tactical flexibility. Focuses on the production and presentation of a business plan for starting a business in an emerging market as a key activity of the course.

MFIN 5100 - Corporate Finance Policy, Structure and Strategy

The course applies financial theories, techniques and models to the study of corporate financial decisions.  Aspects of corporate policy and strategy, industry structure and the process for measuring and managing the value of companies are also addressed.  Students are required to study an actual firm from the perspective of concepts and models developed in the course and present the study to the class.

MFIN 5102 - Managerial Economics

This course covers the broad principles of economics that underlie and affect all business decisions, such as introducing a new product or service, diversifying, pricing products, segmenting customers, and addressing regulatory issues. Emphasis will be placed on evaluating market environments and the interaction among firms, and on how decisions affect the profitability of the company.

MFIN 5206 - Management of Financial Institutions

This course examines the management problems of financial institutions, with emphasis on banking institutions.  Continuous change in the financial services industry is driven by various international dimensions of increasing competition, advances in information technology, evolution of the security and derivatives markets, and changes in private and government regulation.  How banks and other financial institutions are organized to meet continuous change and what management and financial officers must do to generate success for their firms and for themselves will be discussed.
